Our Story
Tailwind CPA started in the Florida Keys 2014 as Deep Dive Financial. The name of the firm reflected our belief that the best results for our clients come from our attention to all of the details. In addition, Diana is a big time diver! The firm was formed as a virtual tax and accounting practice that would allow Diana to serve clients remotely, and we built it with a focus on technology. Because of our reliance on technology, we were able to serve tech-forward clients with remote employees and unique filing requirements. Today, our clients own an average of 1.6 businesses and in 2024 we filed taxes in 26 states.

Diana Halenz
Diana spent the first 20 years of her career consulting with the health care industry for a national consulting firm. She worked on the revenue cycle for health care providers, strategy and operations for health systems, and in technology implementation for health care providers.
In 2014, she started Deep Dive Financial and attended Villanova University for a Masters in Taxation that would facilitate in depth tax analysis and optimization of clients’ complex tax situations. Ten years later, she recognized the need for client service that would anchor the different aspects of each client’s financial life into one hub and created Tailwind Financial to complement the re-branded Tailwind CPA.
Karyna Hawthorne
Karyna is a CFP candidate and currently lives in Connecticut with her husband, Ben, an orthopedic surgery resident. Karyna understands first hand how difficult it can be for a medical student, resident, or physician post-training to understand and optimize their finances.
Karyna believes education for young physicians regarding their finances is essential for future success, ensuring that a plan is developed for loan repayment, retirement savings, and everything in between. She was inspired to join the firm with the hopes of helping other young students, physicians, and their families.
